Overview

Reporting to the Manager, Organizational Development and the Director, Communications & Corporate Partnerships, the Project Manager, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is responsible for the development and implementation of programs, policies, and initiati ves to advance our diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) priorities at Michael Garron Hospital (MGH).

Through capacity building, engagement, partnership, and expert consultation, the incumbent will lead activities and initiatives to integrate and em bed anti-racism, anti-oppression, equity and social accountability principles and practices across all aspects of the hospital in alignment with the organization’s mission, vision and values.

The Project Manager will work closely with the MGH Inclusio n Alliance, senior leadership, staff, physicians and patient experience advisors, including members of underserved and underrepresented groups, to identify, diagnose, measure, and dismantle systemic barriers to equity and inclusion.

Education

- Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline (human resources, equity studies, human rights, sociology, etc.) or equivalent combination of education and related experience

Qualifications

- Minimum five (5) years’ experience developing and successfully implementing DEI programs, policies, procedures, and initiatives
- PMP certification or equivalent would be an asset
- Strong knowledge of best practices in equity, diversity, inclusi on, social justice and demonstrated experience in supporting transformational change
- Skilled at engaging in matters that require sensitivity and empathy across a diverse community; excellent judgment and discretion
- Experience in establishing/main taining trusting relationships with all levels of staff, including front-line, physicians, and executives
- Demonstrated experience in group facilitation, facilitating organizational change and transition, team or group dynamics, and organizational ass essments
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with an ability to write briefing notes, reports, organizational communications, presentations and create learning materials to support programs
- Takes initiative, works proactively, coordina tes and manages projects with multiple stakeholders in a complex environment
- Thorough understanding and working knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and Anti-Racism Act and Ontario’s Re gulatory Registry Regulation (LGIC)
- Strong project management skills
- Experience partnering with individuals and communities that have been historically marginalized and under-serviced by the health system (e.g., LGBTQ2S+, radicalized, Indigenous , low socio-economic status communities, persons with disabilities, etc.)
- Proficient understanding and application of health equity, anti-oppression and/or population health frameworks and how these affects staff, client and family experience especia lly those from underrepresented groups.
- Lived experience as a member of an equity-deserving group as asset
- Demonstrated experience working with historically oppressed communities, navigating institutional resistance
- Demonstrated experience influencing positive change in the field of inclusion, diversity, equity and social responsibility
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a large, complex and ever-changing organization
- Ability to coach and mentor others inclu ding, supporting mindsets related to diversity, inclusion and equity
- Partners with stakeholders to develop and maintain new external partnerships
- Demonstrated expertise in software tools such as MS Office, including Excel and Project; proficient in the use of project management tools such as Gantt charts, A3s, project charters
- Experience in a Healthcare experience an asset
