Connections Clinic

The Connections Clinic offers follow-up mental health support for individuals who have been assessed by a crisis worker or psychiatrist in MGH's Stavro Emergency Department (ED) within the past three weeks.

Referrals are only accepted through the MGH ED; no external referral options are available.

  • Patients must be between 18 and 65 years of age.
  • Patients must not currently be under the care of a psychiatrist.

The clinic is staffed by a team of psychiatrists and a social worker.

Program Offerings

The Connections Clinic is an in-person, drop-in service that provides support for up to three months or a maximum of six sessions. Services are personalized to align with your goals and level of engagement.

Available services include:

  1. Initial or follow-up sessions with a social worker
  2. Psychiatric assessments or follow-up sessions
  3. Medication refills or depot injections
  4. Assistance connecting with community resources

REFERRAL TO PRIMARY CARE FOR ONGOING SUPPORT

After your immediate mental health needs are addressed and stabilized, the Connections Clinic will prepare and send a detailed summary of your care to your primary care provider (PCP). This summary will include information on psychiatric assessments, treatment plans, prescribed medications, and any follow-up recommendations.

This process facilitates a seamless transition to your PCP for continued medical and mental health care, ensuring that your long-term treatment is consistent, coordinated, and tailored to your ongoing needs.

Referral process

Referrals are exclusively accepted through the MGH ED; no other referrals are accepted for this service.

DROP-In TIMES

New patients are seen on a first-come, first-served basis, and space is limited. We recommend arriving toward the beginning of the drop-in hours and registering at H5.

  • Mondays: 12 to 3 p.m.
  • Wednesdays: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Thursdays: 12 to 3 p.m.

Preparing for your visit

Upon arrival, please check in at the front desk on H5 and you will be asked to complete a screening form, which is required before you can be seen by a clinician. To ensure a smooth visit, please bring your health card and a current list of any medications. This will assist us in providing you with the most appropriate care.

Additional supports

The Connections Clinic offers a weekly group, Building Connections. Please ask a provider in the clinic for further information. This open group provides a supportive environment for patients to build motivation, address recovery challenges, and develop skills with guidance from staff. The sessions are co-facilitated by two clinicians.
