Overview

Acts as part of a mulit-disciplinary team, facilitating patient flow through the Medicine Health Svcs. Receives referrals and schedules appointment for patient and ensures quality service by answering phone calls, responding to emails and communicating w ith patients, families and the healthcare team. The unit clerk is responsible for booking in-person and/or virtual appointments and providing patient centred care. The unit clerk must be professional, courteous and display the values of the organization during all interactions with the patient, family and healthcare team.

Education

- Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent, post secondary education preferred
- Completion of Medical Office Administration or Patient Registration Courses Preferred

Qualifications

- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in an extremely fast paced environment
- Recent Unit Clerk, registration, admitting and appointment scheduling experience preferred
- Knowledge of hospital admissio n, discharge and transfer (ADT) systems preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology an asset.
- Strong customer service skills and experience required.
- Flexibility to adapt to a dynamic work environment.
- Ability to multi-task and proven org anizational skills
- Proven innovation in problem solving and critical thinking skills required
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Excellent computer skills required (Cerner, Powerchart, ESM, ANSOS, Microsoft Word, Excel, Powe rpoint, Outlook email, OTN, Zoom).
- Demonstrates basic mathematical skills preferred
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, demonstrates tact, diplomacy, and discretion in matters related to patients, staff and other hospital matters.
- Must be wi lling to work in all areas of Medicine Health Services.
- Good work and attendance record required.
