Responsible for the appropriate and efficient placement, transfer, and discharge of all inpatients, day surgery, and day medicine patients. This includes supporting day-to-day activities to maintain patient flow in collaboration with the patient care te am, Patient Flow Coordinators and Managers, support the movement of admitted patients from the Emergency Department and the flow of patients between programs. Also responsible for facilitating repatriation of patients with Physicians and Mangers and to i dentify any process barriers to the manager of the appropriate inpatient unit.
- Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent
- Completion of Medical Office Administration or Patient Registration courses preferred
- 2 years Registration/Admitting experience required
- 3-5 years Bed Allocation experience preferred
- Previous clerical experience in a hospital/medical environment preferred
- Knowledge of hospital Admission, Discharge and Transfer (ADT) Systems req uired
- Knowledge of Teletracking Patient Flow Management System preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology an asset
- Demonstrated ability to accurately type a minimum of 35-45 wpm
- Demonstrated Computer skills; MS Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook email
- Demonstrated customer service skills
- Good command of the English language
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and problem-solve
- Demonstrated ability to manage stressful situations with empathy
- Demonstrated ability for attention to detail while providing high standards of accuracy and efficiency
- Experience collecting and processing payments is preferred
- Must be available to work weekends and statutory holidays
- Must be prepared to work in all areas of Patient Access Services as needed.
