As a part of its ongoing campus redevelopment project, Michael Garron Hospital (MGH) will permanently close its A, B and C Wings on March 21, 2025 starting at 6 a.m.
The decommissioning and demolition of these wings is necessary to complete the hospital’s campus transformation, which includes extensive landscaping and the creation of a new driveway off Coxwell Avenue to better facilitate patient pick-ups and drop-offs. This work is expected to be complete in Spring 2026.

MGH's upcoming demolition work will require the current main entrance, the Coxwell Entrance, and the adjacent Coxwell Lobby to close. Starting on March 21, 2025, the Sammon Entrance (located on Sammon Avenue between Coxwell Avenue and Knight Street), will become the hospital’s temporary main entrance. This change will be in place until the redevelopment project is complete in 2026.
Patients and visitors are asked to start using the Sammon Entrance as soon as possible to become familiar with the space and route. Once the Coxwell Entrance is closed on March 21, 2025, all patients and visitors must begin using the Sammon Entrance.

On March 20, 2025, MGH will move the final inpatients out of its A and B Wing units in preparation for the demolition of these wings. These patients will be moved to newly renovated wings within the hospital. MGH has developed a detailed plan to ensure this move happens in a safe and timely manner. Patients admitted to these units and their families will receive more information about the move from volunteers and unit staff.
The closure of A, B and C Wings includes the closure of the Coxwell Entrance Information Desk starting on March 21, 2025.
To replace the services provided at this desk, MGH volunteers will be operating a new Information Desk inside the doors of the Sammon Entrance.

The General Store, MGH’s gift shop, will be re-opening in a new space on March 18, 2025. This newly renovated shop is located on G1 adjacent to the Moez & Marissa Kassam Food Court. Please note that The General Store is temporarily closed until March 17, 2025 as the team prepares to move the shop into its new location.
