#IamMGH tells the stories of our people. Meet Florida Mehilli, coordinator of accounts payable at Michael Garron Hospital (MGH).
“I have been working in healthcare for more than 15 years. I came to MGH after working at a larger hospital in Toronto and it has been a big change in my life. MGH is a community hospital where everyone knows and helps one another. I consider working here a luxury because you can build relationships with people in a way that’s not possible at bigger organizations.
As the coordinator in the accounts payable department in Finance, I am not patient-facing but we work for our patients to make sure their stay here is as comfortable as possible. Our job involves providing support to the organization and my team works tirelessly to ensure all bills are paid on time. I am proud of my team — we pride ourselves on having good relationships with our internal departments and external vendors.
I am very happy and proud to be working in healthcare right now. We help people and we make a difference. COVID-19 has shown us that we can overcome any challenge as long as we work together. And my work has shown me that, with good management, anything is possible during both good and difficult times.”
