MELINDA LEVY

Biography

Melinda Levy loves being a midwife. She is honoured to work in a profession where she can assist clients and their families through this life-changing transition.

Melinda received a Bachelor of Science with a double major in Biology and Psychology from Trent University in 1999. Her longstanding interest in women’s health issues led her to volunteer at a women’s healthcare clinic in San Marcos La Laguna, Guatemala. It was there she had the pleasure of working with local midwives and attended her first birth.

Melinda returned to Toronto eager to be more involved in birth work. After training as a doula, she worked as a labour support volunteer at Jessie’s Centre for Teenagers before applying to the Midwifery Education Program. She graduated from the Midwifery Education Program at Toronto Metropolitan University with honours in April 2007. Melinda benefited from the diversity of her midwifery education, including an elective placement with the doctors at the Baffin Regional Hospital in Iqaluit, Nunavut.

Some of Melinda's other interests include yoga, dance and knitting. She also enjoys camping and canoe tripping with her family, including my two kids (whom were both born into the loving hands of midwives). She looks forward to working with birthing parents and is excited to be part oftheir birth story.
