Overview

In spring 2018, Michael Garron Hospital began its campus wide redevelopment project in partnership with Ellis Don Infrastructure Healthcare, the Ministry of Health and Long term Care (MOHLTC), and infrastructure Ontario (IO).

This transformational pro ject will be the largest construction project in the history of Michael Garron Hospital; a project that will forever change the organization and the care it provides to the community.

The Operational Readiness process looks to identify, define, organi ze, and implement all of the deliverables and tasks that are required for the activation and occupation of the new facility in a logical, timely, safe and cost-effective manner that ensures consistent application of corporate priorities and principles.

The purpose of Operational Readiness is to ensure that MGH is operationally ready with the right people, right training and policies, right equipment and technology to support our commitment to deliver exemplary care, develop innovative partnerships a nd mentor the next generation of healthcare providers.

The Pharmacy Trainer for Medication Systems will be supporting Operational Readiness work by working with HEALTH PROFESSIONS and other key stakeholders within the PHARMACY portfolio to support the coordination of high priority project milestones and identify, co-develop and deliver training and orientation for the clinical staff with a focus on medication systems (eg. Automated dispensing cabinets and other medication system technologies) in the New Patient Care Tower. This position will be reporting to the Manager of Operational Readiness. The PHARMACY Trainer for Medication Systems will be working closely with the Pharmacy Operational Readiness Leader (ORL) and internal Pharmacy Leadership (Su pervisor, Manager, Director) to support the organization and completion of medication system milestones to also inform the development and implementation of the Training and Orientation requirements to occupy the new NPCC building. This person will also work closely with the Project Manager of Training and Orientation, Operational Readiness PMs, as well as collaborate with other internal leadership (CRL and Supervisor).

Education

- Bachelor’s degree required
- Master’s degree or equivalent combination of formal education and experience an asset
- PMP certification or equivalent experience an asset

Qualifications

- 2 years related hospital, nursing or pharmacy clinical or operational experience preferred or equivalent relevant experience
- The ability to inspire staff to get excited to learn and maintain engagement through a well-planned and expertly delivere d training and orientation program
- Proactive with a proven ability to achieve results and advance work plans
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent analytical, organizational, problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Excellent interpe rsonal, oral, and written communication and presentation skills
- Familiarity with the patient care process from a holistic systems perspective, complemented by a strong interest in transformative initiatives
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Proven attendance record
- Commitment to providing an exceptional experience for staff and clients within a challenging and exciting health care environment
- Have additional education and/or experience in adult learning, change management and training development/delivery
- Have strong computer/technology skills with extensive experience working a variety of equipment and applications (eg. MS Office applications, MS Teams etc)
