Community COVID-19 Outreach Centres in East Toronto

Last updated: October 14, 2021

Michael Garron Hospital’s (MGH) and East Toronto Health Partners’ (ETHP) COVID-19 Outreach Centres are one-stop shops for COVID-19 supports and resources. They’re staffed by local family physicians and nurses who you can trust to share reliable, evidence-based information about COVID-19 and vaccines.

Our COVID-19 Outreach Centres offer:

  • Walk-in COVID-19 testing for local residents at least four months old who are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms OR who think they may be infected (even without symptoms). This includes child-friendly testing and assessments where children receive oral-nasal swabs.
  • Walk-in COVID-19 vaccinations for local residents born in 2009 or earlier (i.e. turning age 12 or older this year).
  • Other COVID-19 supports varying by location.

Take-home testing kits provided by MGH can be picked up and dropped off at these locations. You do not need an appointment to pick up or drop off a take-home testing kit.

COVID-19 Testing

If you have symptoms of COVID-19 or think you may be infected (even without symptoms), please seek a COVID-19 test at the COVID-19 Outreach Centre in East Toronto that is closest to where you live. COVID-19 testing is also available at MGH’s COVID-19 Assessment Centre and Child and Youth Emergency Zone.

Children who visit our COVID-19 Outreach Centres receive child-friendly testing and assessments. This includes an oral-nasal test, which involves rubbing the inside of the mouth and the front of the nose with a swab for less than five seconds. It is less invasive than the nasopharyngeal (NP) swab that is commonly used for COVID-19 tests. This helps increase the likelihood that children and youth will have pleasant testing experiences. The oral-nasal test is a laboratory-validated polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, not a rapid antigen test. This means a second test is not needed to confirm a positive result.

Health cards are preferred but not required for testing. Results should be available online within 24 to 72 hours.

COVID-19 Vaccinations

If you are born in 2009 or earlier (i.e. turning age 12 or older this year) and need your first or second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, please visit the COVID-19 Outreach Centre in East Toronto that is closest to where you live. Vaccinations are free and open to all. Pfizer is primarily administered; Moderna is available by request. COVID-19 vaccines are also available at our dedicated immunization clinics and mobile and pop-up vaccine clinics across East Toronto.

Please note our COVID-19 Outreach Centres are not administering third doses. If you are part of an immunocompromised population that has been identified as eligible for a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by the Ontario government, please contact your primary care provider or specialist to be referred for a third dose.

Health cards are not required for vaccinations if you do not have one. You may bring an ID or document with your name, like a driver's license, passport, utility bill, pay stub, student ID or report card. Even if you do not have these documents, we encourage you to attend one of these clinics. Our team will do their best to help get you vaccinated. Physicians and nurses are available to answer your questions about the vaccine.
