Overview

Registered Nurses possess a defined body of advanced knowledge, clinical skills, procedural skills and professional attitudes, which are directed to effective patient and family-centered care. RNs apply both their clinical knowledge as well as their lead ership skills to collect and interpret information, make appropriate nursing clinical decisions, and carry out therapeutic nursing interventions. Their care is characterized by up-to-date, ethical, and resource-efficient clinical practice as well as with effective communication in partnership with patients and families and clinical teams.

Exciting opportunity for Registered Nurse to join the MGH Occupational Health COVID-19 Assessment Center team. Primary responsibilities include conducting assessmen ts, performing Nasopharyngeal swabs, leading and participating in exposure and outbreak management as well as providing guidance and teaching in accordance with the appropriate standards.

Education

- Completion of Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or other approved Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nursing program
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) certification

Qualifications

- Minimum of 2 years of recent related experience in nursing required (in a unionized healthcare environment preferred).
- Proficient computer skills including effective use of Microsoft Office, Outlook required; experience with Parklane software is p referred
- Demonstrated leadership, assessment, investigative and critical thinking skills required
- Excellent patient education skills
- Proven ability to problem solve effectively and independently
- Excellent organizational skills (managing workflow, assessing and judging priorities, planning, multi-tasking)
- Experience and knowledge of current IPAC principals
- Excellent interpersonal and crisis intervention skills
- Experience and comfort working with electronic medical records

- Demonstrated ability to establish effective interpersonal relationships; excellent communication (written/oral) skills required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of applicable legislations and understanding compliance with confidentiality and privacy requi rements is essential.
- Ability to work well independently and within a team environment required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of surveillance initiatives, contact tracing, exposure follow up is preferred.
- Must be willing to work a flexible work sch edule.
