Overview

Under the direction of the Director, Occupational Health & Safety and Health & Safety Supervisor, the Health & Safety Coordinator will be responsible for providing support to the Health & Safety programs to ensure compliance in all levels of governmental legislation. The successful candidate will contribute to the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the Occupational Health & Safety programs. This position will support organizational excellence by promoting the culture of safety amo ngst the MGH Community.

Education

Completion of diploma or certificate program in Occupational Health & Safety

Bachelor’s degree in a Health Science related field or equivalent related discipline such as Occupational Health & Safety is preferred

Qualifications

Minimum of 2-5 years of recent relevant experience is required, healthcare or related field preferred
Knowledge of and experience in the practical implementation of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and associated regulations and standards (NIOSH, CS A standards, WHIMIS, Building Code.
Knowledge of N95 mask fit testing
Experience in performing hazard risk assessment(s) is required
Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations is required
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with data collec tion and analysis is required
Demonstrated computer proficiency in the use of Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) is required
Knowledge of Parklane and RL Solutions software is preferred
Demonstrated excellence in customer service is requi red
Demonstrated ability in facilitation, team building, critical thinking and change management within an interdisciplinary milieu is required
Excellent communication (oral, written and presentation), interpersonal and conflict resolution skills is re quired
Knowledge of adult learning principles, with the ability to train various Health & Safety Programs is required
Demonstrated ability to provide support to the JHSC is required
Experience working in a unionized environment is preferred
Ability to work autonomously and in a collaborative team environment is required
Demonstrated understanding of privacy and confidentiality is required
Excellent time management and organizational skills and ability to meet tight timelines is required
