Dr Nianiaris graduated from the University of Toronto Medical School 8T8 and completed a rotating internship at St Michaels Hospital in Toronto. He then completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Toronto in 1992 and completed a one year fellowship in Ophthalmic Research at Mount Sinai Hospital Toronto. Dr Nianiaris is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Canada and a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a Lecturer at the University of Toronto Department of Ophthalmology and has a courtesy appointment at U.H.N. Western Division. He joined the Department of Ophthalmology at Michael Garron Hospital in 1995.
Dr Nianiaris was Chief of the Department of Opthalmology at MGH from 2003-2009 where he sat on several committees. He has been Medical Director at TLC Laser Eye Centre Toronto since 1995 where he continues to perform LASIK and PRK surgery. His surgical interests include cataract surgery and excimer laser refractive surgery. He has a very busy comprehensive ophthalmic practice in Toronto as well as a clinic at Michael Garron Hospital.
