Michael Garron Hospital (MGH) is now in code grey recovery. Key clinical systems are functioning and ongoing efforts to restore supporting patient and business systems continue.
Our Emergency Department and all other services are open and operating.
Thank you to our patients and community members for their understanding as we worked to restore full service and to our staff, physicians and volunteers for their hard work and support throughout the code and recovery process.
Background
On Sept. 25 at approximately 2 a.m., MGH discovered a virus on one of the IT systems and proactively took down a number of information systems to investigate the issue, prevent the spread of further damage and protect patient information.
Following this discovery, the Hospital went into a code grey and opened a command centre to respond to the issue. Code grey is an information technology (IT) system disruption.
On Tuesday, Oct. 1, MGH began bringing key computer systems back online.
No patient or staff privacy was compromised.
