The entrance on Sammon Avenue between Coxwell Avenue and Knight Street is temporarily closed during construction. Patients and visitors should use the main entrance at 825 Coxwell Avenue to enter and exit the hospital. View our campus map.

Dr. MELANIE ORNSTEIN

Biography

Dr. Melanie Ornstein has a BSc in rehabilitation medicine and a MA in education.  She did her medical school training at the University of Toronto and graduated in 1996. She did her residency in obstetrics and gynaecology at the University of Toronto and finished in 2001.

She is currently on staff at Michael Garron Hospital, since 2001, and has a general obstetrics and gynaecology practice, with a special interest in minimally invasive surgery and is laser certified. She is also on staff at Sick Kids Hospital as a paediatric and adolescent gynaecologist since 2001. She has clinical and research interests in working with disabled and developmentally challenged adolescents and women and has lectured nationally and internationally in this area.

She is an assistant professor at the University of Toronto and is actively involved in undergrad and postgrad teaching.  She is the elective student and resident coordinator for obstetrics and gynaecology at MGH.
