Dr. Powis obtained his MD from the University of Ottawa in 2000. He completed his Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases clinical training and a Master’s degree in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Toronto.
Dr. Powis is the Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) at MGH and is the Medical Lead for the East Toronto Health Partners (ETHP) our Ontario Health Team. His research interests include Hepatitis C, quality improvement in IPAC/antimicrobial utilization and clinical trials.
He has several outpatient clinics at MGH including a general Infectious Disease clinic as well as specialty clinics in viral hepatitis and HIV.
