If you are experiencing a severe, potentially life-threatening health issue, please call 9-1-1 or go to a hospital emergency department near you. Severe, potentially life-threatening health issues may include severe physical trauma, loss of consciousness, serious bleeding and sudden chest pain, shortness of breath or weakness.
- Michael Garron Hospital’s (MGH) Stavro Emergency Department is open 24 hours, seven days a week.
- Toronto's Virtual Emergency Department offers online urgent care services from emergency nurse practitioners and doctors across Toronto. Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and University Health Network operate this service.
- The CAMH Virtual Urgent Care Clinic offers convenient, confidential, same-day virtual mental health advice wherever you are in Toronto, using a computer, smartphone or tablet. The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health operates this service.
NON-EMERGENCY SERVICES
If you are experiencing an urgent but non-life threatening health issue, please consider one of the following resources in East Toronto. Urgent but non-life threatening health issues may include mild cold, flu and COVID-19 symptoms; minor cuts and burns; and sprains, fractures and small broken bones.
- Your family doctor, nurse practitioner or other primary care provider
- Urgent care centres and walk-in clinics in East Toronto
- Your local pharmacy can treat and prescribe medications for 19 common minor health issues, including pink eye, dermatitis (atopic, eczema, allergic and contact), menstrual cramps (dysmenorrhea), sprains and strains (musculoskeletal), urinary tract infections (UTIs), nausea and vomiting in pregnancy, and more.
