Child & Adolescent Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Assessment Clinic

Michael Garron Hospital's (MGH) child and adolescent attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) assessment clinic provides assessment and short-term treatment for ADHD in children and youth up to age 17.

Along with anxiety disorders, ADHD is one of the most common mental health conditions affecting children.

The first step is a psychiatric consultation to confirm the diagnosis. This includes a checklist to be completed by parents and a checklist and assessment form to be completed by the teacher

Once the diagnosis is confirmed, treatment options will be reviewed, including parent education sessions and coaching, recommendations for the school, and medications. We work closely with community mental health partners who provide groups for children with behavioural challenges.

Our team includes an outpatient nurse and child and adolescent psychiatrists.

Referral to the ADHD clinic is made at the time of the initial outpatient psychiatric consultation, which can be accessed through a referral by a primary care physician.
